Repointing of traditional stonework and brickwork using cotswold lime mortar. This should be undertaken when lime mortar has loosened and weathered out or if cement has been used. This will leave open joints vulnerable to water penetration and cause further damage where the mortar is very soft and loose. The old mortar should be racked out using traditional methods and replaced to prevent damp issues and moisture content. The new lime mortar mix should be packed in to the joints using a finger trowel ensuring the joints are overfilled, this is then left to set and the required finish applied whether it be trowel or tapped with churn brush for a more traditional, breathable finish. With brickwork many finishes can be applied and the use of lime mortar for a repoint has many values; it will help the whole building breathe allowing moisture content to pass preventing damp and rising, lime pointing is an art we have perfected over the years and have expertise in all stone related matters and we feel theres nothing better than bringing a period property back to its former glory with a stone/brick clean and a repoint in a creamy lime.
